At the end of this educational activity, participants will be better able to:

- Define the purpose of groups for teaching and experiencing mind-body medicine.
- Practice and recognize the role of movement, exercise, and breathing as mind-body modalities.
- Demonstrate the use of drawings as mind-body modality.
- Practice and recognize the role of biofeedback and autogenic training as mind-body modalities.
- Practice and recognize the role of guided imagery as a mind-body modality.
- Practice and recognize the role of meditation as a mind-body modality.
- Realize the role of emotions in mind-body medicine.
- Realize the importance of self-awareness in mind-body medicine.
- Recognize the importance of genograms as a mind-body modality.
- Demonstrate the drawing of a genogram.
- Describe the use of mind-body skills in dealing with trauma.
- Recognize the importance of spirituality in healing.
- Realize the importance of mindful and healthy eating as part of self-awareness.
- Demonstrate a method for ending the final group of a session.
- Assess how to begin to use mind-body skills in clinical practices and/or teaching.

Acupuncturists

Certified Health Education Specialists (NCHEC)
Center for Mind-Body Medicine is designated as a provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive up to 31.5 total Category 1 continuing education contact hours. Maximum advanced-level continuing education contact hours available are 0. Provider number is SEP3673.
Counselors
This program has been approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors. NBCC approval number is SP-1582-RENEWED. Up to 32.25 hours.
Marriage and Family Therapists and Social Workers in California (California Board of Behavioral Sciences)
Course meets the qualifications for 32.25 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. (PCE # 3638).
Massage Therapists (NCBTMB)
Center for Mind-Body Medicine is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education provider. The course is accepted for 32 CE hours as self-care for the therapist only. Provider number is 451128-09. Approved Provider status will expire August 25, 2012.
Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
This program is approved for 25.75 contact hours of continuing education the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Program ID 1006182. This program was planned in accordance with AANP CE Standards and Policies and AANP Commercial Support Standards.
Occupational Therapists
Center for Mind-Body Medicine is an AOTA Approved Single Course Provider of continuing education. Center for Mind-Body Medicine is authorized to assign 3.2 AOTA CEUs for Initial Mind-Body Medicine Professional Training Program from October 1-5, 2011. The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products, or clinical procedures by AOTA.
Physicians
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the University of Minnesota and the Center for Mind-Body Medicine. The University of Minnesota is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Minnesota designates this educational activity for a maximum of 32.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Psychologists
R. Cassidy Seminars is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. R. Cassidy Seminars maintains responsibility for this program. Program provides (30.75) contact hours. Participants must have paid tuition fee, signed in, attended the entire seminar, completed an evaluation, and signed out in order to receive a certificate. Failure to sign in or out will result in forfeiture of credit for the entire course. No exceptions will be made. Partial credit is not available.

According to ANCC other health disciplines’ continuing education hours may be used if the content is applicable to your area of certification. Continuing educations hours approved by the following organizations will meet the ANCC-accredited CNE criteria: NAPNAP, ACCME and AANP.
