Claire Michaels Wheeler, MD, PhD

Claire Michaels Wheeler, MD, PhDClaire Michaels Wheeler, MD, PhD, is a physician and psychologist living in Portland, Oregon. After practicing Emergency Medicine for several years, she was the Primary Investigator in a 4-year study of the emotional, social, and psychological effects of traumatic injury and stress at the University of Michigan and the Legacy Health System in Portland. She went on to found MindBody Medicine of Portland, providing integrative medical services, including Mind-Body Skills groups, to the public and other health professionals in the Portland area. Claire served as key personnel for a grant from NCCAM to Oregon Health & Science University to integrate mind-body medicine and other integrative practices into the curriculum of the medical and nursing schools. She is now a faculty member at the School of Community Health at Portland State University, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in health behaviors, integrative medicine, and stress. She is the author of "Ten Simple Solutions to Stress," to be released by New Harbinger Publishers in January 2007. Claire has three children who live with her half time, and her favorite stress reliever is dancing around the living room to whatever comes up on her iPod.
