Dates and Times

Please note: This is a training program—we ask for a commitment from you to attend the entire training program, including all didactic and group sessions, except in rare, unforeseen circumstances.

The training begins with registration on Saturday morning, October 2, 2010 at 7:30 am. There will be an optional early registration on Friday evening, 5:30-7:00 pm. The training ends on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at approximately 6 pm, followed by a time for some tea, cookies, and socializing. For those of you from out of town, we suggest you schedule your departure on the morning of Thursday, October 7, 2010. Most days, the program will run from 8:30 am to 5:30 or 6:30 pm. To see the full schedule click here.

Hotel

All lectures, panel discussions and small groups will take place at the Hyatt Crystal City in Arlington, VA, just across the river and only three metro stations from the Mall in Washington, DC.

In addition to staying at a wonderful hotel at our great conference rate, booking your hotel room at the Hyatt Crystal City allows the Center to offer affordable tuition. Participants have a discounted rate of $195 plus tax per night guaranteed until September 10th, 2010, on a space available basis. We recommend reserving your room as soon as possible, as October is a busy conference time and rooms will fill fast. Hotel reservations can be made online by clicking here, or by calling (888) 421-1442 and requesting the Center for Mind-Body Medicine rate of $195 plus tax per night.

Click here for a map showing the location of the hotel and directions.

Note: Please help us keep the tuition as low as possible for you and your colleagues! The more hotel rooms we book with our group, the more likely we are to avoid HIGH meeting room rental fees - which otherwise would force us to increase future tuition. Besides the convenience of the training being onsite and the hotel’s location to the city, please consider this when arranging your travel!

Roomates & Rideshare

Are you the only person in your car with 3 or more empty seats? If you have even one seat in your car, please travel green and share the ride! Flying in? Share taxis.

On a budget? Make friends and save money: find a hotel roommate.

Connect, share and conserve!

Transportation

Please schedule your flights so that you will not miss any of the lectures!

The best option for out of town participants is to fly into Reagan National Airport (DCA). You can also fly to Washington Dulles Airport (IAD), but it is further away from the hotel and you will need to pay for shuttle or taxi. For local participants we strongly suggest taking the metro as the hotel is a short walk from a metro stop; in addition, there is a shuttle available from the metro as well.

Reagan National Airport : Courtesy shuttle service to and from airport is available 5:00am-12:00am. Pickup every 20 min at the top of the hour and 20 minutes and 40 minutes past the hour. For guests in the area who require transportation back to hotel, call 1-703-418-1234. Courtesy phone in baggage claim area.

Dulles International Airport : Accessible by SuperShuttle for $29 or by taxi with a fare of $40 to $50.

Metro: Crystal City station is a short 10 min walk away. Blue and Yellow line access. Courtesy shuttle service available to and from both Crystal City and Reagan National Airport metro stops. For metro information please visit this link

Crystal City Trolley: Available throughout the city at a cost of 50 cents per ride. Pick up at hotel in 7 minute intervals, MON-FRI 6am-6:30pm.

Parking: Parking rate is $25 per night with unlimited access in and out of garage.

Suggested Reading

We suggest that you become familiar with Manifesto for a New Medicine and/or Unstuck: Your Guide to the Seven Stage Journey Out of Depression by James S. Gordon, MD prior to attending the program to enhance your participation. If your local bookstore doesn’t have it, you can order it through our website.

Attire

Please feel free to dress casually for the program. If you are susceptible to getting cold, consider dressing in layers. It’s notoriously difficult to maintain the perfect comfort level for everyone in large conference halls, and try though we might, some people freeze while others sweat.
